Allow me to share what touched me today in Institute. I'm taking Teachings of the Living Prophets and I would strongly recommend the class to anyone.
Imagine if ALL of congress all just agreed on something. Anything. Because they had the country's best interest at heart.
Imagine if all your roommates (yes, ALL of them) decided to ALWAYS keep the apartment clean. Because you all had each other's best interest at heart. And your guests, of course.
Imagine if every student agreed with, supported, and enforced 100% what the teacher said. Because they had the teacher's best interest at heart. And their grade, of course.
Imagine if a married couple never argued. never had a tense disagreement. all because they (can you guess) agreed. Because they had each other's best interest at heart.
At heart. Perhaps meaning they desired it more than anything.
Imagine now these men.

Imagine them in the temple discussing, you know, issues of the world. Some of the very greatest and seemingly the most stressful.
How do they come up with solutions? Guess.
They agree. Because they have nobody but the Lord's best interest at heart.
Not just the majority of them. ALL of them must agree. All 12 of them individually must raise their hand and say "yes, let's move forward". If one of them is not present at the meeting, they will make sure the decision is okay with them before ANYTHING happens. If even ONE of them is uncomfortable, the meeting is adjourned until further notice so they can ponder, fast, pray, do whatever they need to do to find a way to make a plan that will sit comfortably with everybody.
How in the world?
I love these men. They are the Apostles of Jesus Christ today. They lead His church in every aspect through amazing revelation. And they live in such a way that they are inspired by the power of the Spirit to agree. (D&C 107:30) And that agreement they come to is none other than God's plan.
It's unanimity, my friends.
It's living righteously.
It's having faith that everything will be okay, even if your way isn't playing out.
It's knowledge in secular and spiritual settings.
It's patience in everything, in everyone, everywhere.
It's charity. Just love.
In doing these things, you will find yourself becoming a more agreeable person. You WILL have the Lord's best interest at heart. You WILL have the Spirit of the Lord directing you towards the correct decision to carry out His plan, whether it be personal decision or one you must make with others, such as your roommates, spouse, friends or classmates.
People like people who agree with them. So take a deep breath, humble yourself, and agree.
Agreed? :)
